Transgressions: Performance, Practice & Code – New Directions in Critical Theory Graduate Conference

Friday, April 21, 2017 - 1:30pm to Saturday, April 22, 2017 - 6:00pm

Held every spring, New Directions is an interdisciplinary conference organized for and by graduate students in the English department as a way of drawing together student scholars across diverse fields. This year’s conference will concern itself with interrogating the idea of “transgressions” in and around performances, practices, and codes—all broadly defined. We are privileged to announce our 2017 keynote speakers, who perform and interrogate transgressions across disciplinary boundaries: David Hawkes of ASU, a renowned specialist of the Early Modern period and author of six important books, and Nancy Koppelman, professor of American Studies and Humanities at Evergreen State College.
